SAVE TIME AND MONEY – TOP 4 TRAVEL APPS

(WXIA) -- As the holiday season nears, our thoughts are instantly filled with chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Old Saint Nick -- and the dreaded trip to the airport to visit friends and family.

Hipmunk – Helps suggest travel options with booking your flight.
This app suggests travel options based on what will give you the least amount of agony. Hipmunk also shows hotel options, including alternates like HomeAway and VRBO, as well as train schedules.
AirHelp – Getting bumped off that flight might not be all that bad after all.
With so many people hitting the friendly skies, delays and cancellations can truly be a nightmare. With AirHelp, getting bumped off a flight may not be so bad after all.
Did you know that if you're flying domestic in the U.S. and get bumped from a flight, you can claim up to $1,300 from the airline? AirHelp does take a 25 percent cut, but odds are you didn't know you were entitled to that money in the first place.
MiFlight – Crowd Sourcing App. Brand New and shows you in real time what the wait for security lines are.  Very accurate.
Do you stress while driving to the airport, just thinking about how long the security lines will be? MiFlight may ease some of that anxiety. It's a crowd-sourcing app that shows you in real time what the waits are for the security line.
Are you flying international? MiFlight also provides wait times for all the major airports in the world.
Transfercar – Drive Rental Cars and RV’s from One City to another for them.
This is for the traveler who's driving to Grandma's house this holiday season. Transfercar shows rental cars and RVs that need to be taken from one city to another. Sometimes the companies will even pay for the gas.Original Source and link of the above article:

ON ANOTHER NOTE: THIS IS A PRETTY COOL IDEA-
PHONE-ENABLED “SMART LUGGAGE” TRACKABLE VIA GPS
by DAVE CAOLO on JUNE 7, 2013 in TRAVEL

Soon you’ll be able to watch your lost luggage travel farther and farther away. The concept Bag2Go from Airbus is the result of a collaboration between T-Mobile and German luggage maker Rimowa. Aside from your skivvies, there’s a GPS tracker, a 2G mobile radio and an RFID chip inside the bag, recording its whereabouts. Additionally, a companion iPhone app lets you monitor the bag’s location. There’s even a scale built into the handle, so you can weight it by simply picking it up.

For now, there are no plans to put the technology into consumer luggage, but Airbus may license the Bag2Go to airlines so that travelers can rent them on a short-term basis. Sounds cool, but wouldn’t you rather own one of these bags instead of renting it from the airline?

  1. Thank you for sharing these goodies. In the case of flight delays or cancellation compensation you can contact providers such as Flight Claim. This should also be in your inventory.
